For those who participated in the recent sporting clays event you might recall that Sandra LaFlamme donated her entire winnings from the 50/50 auction back to Sertoma Sarasota. She and her husband Mark founded Canines for Heroes, and I invited her to be one of our speakers in October.  Many wounded veterans suffer a hearing loss from combat. Join us for an interesting insight into how they help those we honor.

Sandra's Introduction

A childhood head injury changed my life. I was no longer able to run or talk as I had before.  I found new ways to thrive and regain function by riding horses. Meeting and marrying Mark in 2012 led to training our first service dog, Allie, and later her sister, Cowgirl, who supported me through facial reconstruction in 2021. The love and principles I gained as a young person flowed into these experiences. In 2016, we founded Canines for Heroes, a unique approach to healing using dogs to support Veterans and First Responders with PTSD. Our mission is to build people through the bond with their service dogs.
